Since comfort is a matter of personal preference, it's important to choose a sleep set that meets your individual needs for comfort, support and space.

Sleep systems:

A sleep system is comprised of the following:

  1. Divan Base: is the foundation that acts as a giant shock absorber, taking the normal wear and tear of nightly use. It also provides added support and durability. Intercoil manufactures two types of divan bases; platform and spring.

  2. Mattress: There are different types of mattresses such as air, water, innerspring and foam. Intercoil specializes in innerspring and foam mattresses.

Mattress Construction

  1. Mattress Core:  It is the middle "core"-heart-of the mattress, which provides support for the sleeper. It can be either foam or innerspring.

  2. Upholstery Layers: The upholstery layers are wrapped around the core to provide surface comfort A variety of foams and fibers are used to improve the cushioning and enhance the support of the mattress core.

Types of Innerspring

The three main types of innerspring are:

Bonnell Innerspring Pocketed Innerspring LFK Innerspring
  1. Bonnell Innerspring: It is the classic and most popular types of innersprings and is made of 5 turn steel coil interconnected in rows by helical wire. The wire gauge and the coil count, which depends on the coil diameter, determine the quality of the bonnell spring. Bonnell innersprings are reliable, durable and have very good and progressive resilience.

  2. Pocketed Innerspring: Each spring is individually wrapped in a small non-woven fabric sack-"pocket"- and held in a row among one another, forming a system. Pocketed spring units are particularly known for their high point by point elasticity, leading to independent motion and noiselessness when one sleeper moves.

  3. LFK Innerspring: The LFK has evolved from the Bonnell innerspring, but is differentiated with the following characteristics:
    1. It is rectangular and elliptical with a special end ring form.
    2. Smaller diameter wire and thus a higher coil count.
    3. Lighter, very flexible and very versatile.

Types of Foam

  1. Polyurethane Foam:
Polyurethane-PU-foam is the end product of a chemical reaction, involving the polymerization of isocyanides and polyols. PU foam is rated based on density and the degree of firmness. The higher the density, the more durable is the foam.

  2. Latex Foam:
Latex foam is made from natural rubber. Latex foam can either be used as a mattress core or as upholstery layer. Latex is durable and is known for its conformability, as it contours to the shape of the body. Furthermore, it has outstanding elasticity and it is antifungal and hygienic.
